Recently I heard Brother Ferrell Jenkins of Temple Terrace, Florida speak on this subject. After listening to the remark made by Brother Jenkins and after my own study on the subject I have arrived at three basic conclusions about the superiority of actually being a Christian. At this time I would like to share these thoughts with you.
Conclusion one: Christians enjoy a more abundant life than the world.
Perhaps only Christian men and women can fully comprehend the words of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ in John 10:10, "... I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly."
Christians have the ability to grasp the meaning of 1 John 5:3, "For this is the love of God, that we obey his commandments: and his commandments are not harsh." Yes, my friend, the commandments of God are for our own happiness that we as Christians might have a more abundant life than the world.
Conclusion two: Christians can simply out think the world.
Much is said today about Christianity being anti-scientific or anti-intellectual. Nothing could be more distant from the truth because both Christianity and the sciences are built upon a similar foundation of beliefs. I mean by this statement:
(a) Both in Christianity and science faith is necessary!
(b) Both in Christianity and science love for truth is necessary]
(c) Both in Christianity and science knowledge of truth is necessary!
(d) Both in Christianity and science human response or obedience to truth is necessary!
(e) Both in Christianity and science conviction in regard to truth is necessary!
(f) Both in Christianity and science diligence is necessary!
(g) Both in Christianity and science discipline is necessary!
The Apostle Paul must have recognized that Christians can out think the world when he commanded members of the church at Philippi to think about things which are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, virtuous, and praiseworthy. (Philippians 4:8)
Conclusion three: Christians can out die the world.
Christians possess the power to out die the world because they remember the words of Jesus Christ. For example, Jesus proclaimed in John chapter eleven, " I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: and whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die."
The followers of Jesus Christ have the hope of eternal life in heaven because they obeyed the command of Jesus in Mark 16: 16, "He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved"
