WHAT A SERMON!

It is the duty of a faithful gospel preacher to "preach the word" (2 Tim. 4:2). Obviously preachers have not universally followed that order faithfully. Not long ago I read in the West End church bulletin (Nashville, Tennessee) where Stanley Morgan who had just returned from the Dominican Republic, spoke on "Peter's Hairy Leg." He cited as his scripture text Matt. 14:23-33. I suggest that you read that passage carefully and see what it says about "Peter's Hairy Leg." Then you will understand better why we have problems in the church. The speculative and the novel have replaced the scriptural and the edifying. Men need to speak as the oracles of God (1 Pet. 4:11).
